Appointments with eConsult

With eConsult you are in charge.

Our online system is quick, easy to use, convenient and most importantly gets you the help you need when you need it.

But before you do…is there anyone else that might be better to help? General Practice is under enormous demand and the new GP contract places additional pressures on the practice. We want to be there for those who need us, serving the local community as we have done for over 100 years. But to do so, as patients and a practice, we are going to have to work together to manage this demand; without it, waiting times for appointments for non-urgent problems will increase.

On our part, we are constantly reviewing our systems to make them as efficient as they can be. We are working with local practices to secure extra services, such as sharing pharmacists, physiotherapists and so on.We have introduced technology that allows us to offer advice or remote monitoring in a way that is more convenient for patients, where such technologies are appropriate.

As patients, you can play your part by downloading the NHS App and completing consult requests using the online services, rather than phoning the practice. Whilst the form takes a bit longer than a call, it actually means that we can get you to the right person first time (and even suggest where tests might be helpful before the consultation). Keep your phone number, email address and home address up to date (you can also do this easily using the NHS App).

Pharmacy First

Your pharmacist is a great start for non-urgent problems and even some more urgent ones. Pharmacists are experts on minor illness and medications. They can prescribe medication for simple conditions, including some antibiotics.

  • Ear ache and infections (for those 1-17 years old)
  • Impetigo (over 1 year old)
  • Infected insect bites (over 1 year old)
  • Shingles (over 18 years old)
  • Sore throat and tonsillitis (over 5 years old)
  • Simple urinary tract infections (women aged 16-64 years)

Many offer free blood pressure checks as well as contraceptive services (including emergency contraception), help with new medications or queries about medication you are prescribed. This is in addition to helping you with minor skin rashes, allergies, cold and flu symptoms, mouth ulcers, conjunctivitis, heart burn, indigestion diarrhoea and constipation. Its worth noting that medication that can be obtained from the pharmacist without a prescription (eg hayfever treatments), we are are no longer allowed to prescribe under NHS rules).

Our Online Appointment System

From 1st July, 2025, Glenpark and Teams Medical Services moved to an online appointment system.

All requests are triaged by our clinical team, who will decide how best to support you.

If you think you need to be seen today, or want to request a home visit, please contact us as early in the day as possible, and ideally before 10am. Please note that we cannot guarantee that econsults submitted after 4pm will be reviewed by a clinician in time for a same day review.

Monday is our busiest day for requests. Response times for non-urgent requests will be slower and may not be until the following working day.

Using eConsult

You can access eConsult through our website, or in the NHS App. With eConsult you can:

  • Send your request in your own time – no waiting on the phone
  • Get quicker responses and faster resolutions, with no unnecessary trips to the Practice
  • Have more convenient care options (phone, video, or face-to-face)
  • Be seen by the most appropriate member of the healthcare team

If you already have the NHS App or an NHS login, you’re ready to use eConsult.

If not, you can download the NHS App for free, and create a login.

How it works

eConsult is easy to use, either in the NHS App or through our website.

  • You send us your request – either through our eConsult link, using the NHS App, or over the phone.
  • We review your request – our clinical team will look at what you’ve told us and decide the best way to help you.
  • We respond – this might be with advice, a prescription, a call back, or an appointment – whichever is best for your needs.

We aim to respond to all requests the same day if we receive them before 6.30pm.

Patient safety is our highest priority. Unfortunately, econsults started before we close, may not arrive in our system until after the surgery has closed. For this reason, do not submit econsults for medically urgent problems after 4pm, since we cannot guarantee they will arrive in time for us to view them.  Econsult is working on a solution that will stop econsults for medically urgent problems from being sent to the practice late in the day; until then, we reserve the right to turn off econsults earlier than 6.30pm where there is a risk that safety may be compromised because of the volume of requests that need screening.

If you are unable to use the eConsult service

If you would like an appointment, please call 0191 4604 300 or visit us

Our team will submit an eConsult request for you so that all requests are treated equally. Please be prepared to give as much information as you can. This helps the clinical team work out how best to help you. Everything you tell us is confidential.

Urgent and Routine Appointments

All requests can be sent via eConsult and assessed by our team.

They’ll look at what you need and work out the best way to help.
